  WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! My sister and I meet with two ladies from Hospice that day and they gave us the okay to have our mom transferred from the hospital to the hospice house (less than 2 miles away). Sonya from hospice called me at approximately 7:00 pm and tried to tell me it was “too late” in the day to transfer my mother. I insisted that was not the plan. She was not pleased with my insisting and decided to come to my mother’s room. Sonya walked into the room gave my dying mother a “once over look from a distance” and proceeded to explain that she could not arrange transportation. NOT ONCE did Sonya show a SINGLE OUNCE of compassion to me, my family or my dying mother! She was RUDE, ARGUMENTATIVE and DISGRACEFUL! We told her to leave my mother’s room, she was no longer welcome. I spoke on the phone with Sonya’s supervisor TABITHA who was not any better. She spent her time trying to convince me that Sonya is wonderful and has won many accolades for her great work. Instead of trying to help resolve the situation, I was getting a lecture about how wonderful Sonya is. In our situation, unless our loved one could pass away during the day and on Hospices terms then that was the only way they wanted to “help”. I lost all confidence in Hospices ability and was able keep my mom with the amazing men and women at Martin Memorial ICU - she passed away that same night with her family by her side and the most amazing ICU nurse anyone could have asked for – NO THANKS AT ALL TO HOSPICE!
